The Selangor government is confident that Putrajaya will keep its word in the water deal signed by both parties last month.
This is despite Pakatan Rakyat (PR) pushing for the state to stop the Langat 2 project.
Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim (pic) said he was certain the Barisan Nasional government would honour the memorandum of understanding signed between Putrajaya and Selangor on February 26.
“I believe Putrajaya is committed in solving the structuring of Selangor’s water operations.
“I don’t think the federal government will go against the implementation of Langat 2 and the water structuring,” he told a press conference in the state capital of Shah Alam today.
Khalid also ticked off Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili for refusing to invoke the Water Services Industry Act 2006 to take over the four water concessionaires in the state.
The four concessionaires are Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas), Puncak Niaga Sdn Bhd (PNSB), Konsortium Abbas Sdn Bhd (Abbas) and Syarikat Pengeluar Air Selangor Holdings Bhd (Splash).
Khalid said he would meet Ongkili in Putrajaya tomorrow to urge the federal government to invoke the act. – March 19, 2014.
